New Orleans. Thanksgiving dinner.

"I'm going to do food study instead of law school." C said to me.
"What is food study?" I was curious to hear more.
"Well, it is a study of culture and history of a particular cuisine: the origin, influence from immigrations, historical events, etc."
"Really! That sounds amazingly interesting! I was thinking about starting a blog to review different cuisines because I'm almost always critical about the food I eat -- thanks to my sensitive palette." We both laughed.

I looked up a few food blogs at the airport, waiting for my flights. It seems that most of them give very specific recipes for readers to follow.

I, for one, don't cook that much at home. Ok, to be more accurate, I hardly ever cook. Even when I do, I don't follow recipes but improvise with the ingredients. I find that to be more enjoyable. Surprisingly, the food usually turn out much better than I anticipated. So, my blog will not include recipes.

I will being doing food reviews either restaurants or food stands/trucks or my friends' cooking. I always ask about the culture behind a certain type of food anyway. Often, I find differences in ethnic cuisines, but more so I find similarities.

So here we go, I'm officially starting my food review adventure here!

Note: All reviews are my own. I'm not sponsored by any restaurants or food manufacturers.
